How expensive Wi-Fi can be for free:

Discover the risks of surfing a public network and how to avoid all these dangers
Restaurants, hotels, bars, airports, swimming pools or bus companies already offer free Wi-Fi networks where customers can connect to not miss anything in the world 2.0. without having to spend your own data.

But connecting to a free Wi-Fi network involves a number of dangers that few know. WiFi access points are rarely conveniently protected, so cybercriminals can easily intercept the data traffic that circulates through them.

From getting your bank details, to stealing the passwords of your social networks or all your personal photos or videos. If you are not protected enough, writing an email, making an online purchase or sending a video to a friend becomes a risk.

But these are not the only dangers to which you expose yourself with the use of free Wi-Fi. Receiving a virus with false warnings is very common.

So that using free Wi-Fi doesn't cost you, these are the precautions you should take:

1. Always use HTTPS to prevent a pirate from using the 'Packet Sniffing' technique and see everything you are doing from your mobile or laptop.

2. Keep your device always up to date with installed antivirus and firewalls.

3. Do not shop online when browsing public Wi-Fi or access your banks. Also avoid doing any management where you have to write your bank card number or other personal information such as your home address.

4. Always disable Wi-Fi when you finish browsing and delete the data that has been stored by your device.
